Wajih Kidwai, MD, is a medical oncologist and serves as medical director of Smilow Cancer Center in Guilford.
He has expertise in medical oncology/hematology, breast oncology, gastrointestinal oncology, and hematologic oncology. Dr. Kidwai says the best part of his job is having direct discussions with patients and watching them get better.
“As a result of our great quality of care and provision of state-of-the-art cancer care, we have been able to expand our services with increased surgical and radiology services in Guilford and Old Saybrook,” Dr. Kidwai says.
Dr. Kidwai collaborated with radiation oncology, breast surgery, and breast radiology to develop a breast cancer program. He is a principal investigator of an immune therapy clinical trial for metastatic HER-2-positive breast cancer.
He has also worked closely with the Survivorship Program and is exploring nutrition- and exercise-related clinical trials related to breast cancer. Additionally, he collaborates with smoking cessation and palliative care programs.
