Be the best you! Introducing Thrive at YNHHS

How are you feeling these days? Do you have pandemic fatigue? Are you finding it hard to meet your health and financial goals, or stay involved in activities that are meaningful to you? Yale New Haven Health is here to support you with Thrive, a new way to access employee well-being benefits to help you live your best life inside and outside of work.

thrive

“Thrive is the new hub for all YNHHS well-being resources, each with its own benefits, to help you learn about yourself, find ways to overcome challenges and enhance your overall well-being,” said Kevin Myatt, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, YNHHS. “Our employees give so much of themselves to our organization. We want to give them every opportunity to support their well-being through the programs we offer.”

Thrive includes YNHHS resources that support six areas of well-being that can benefit all employees: My Life, My Career, My Health, My Well-being, My Safety and My Finances.

These categories include YNHHS’ livingwell CARES care management program; Employee and Family Resources employee assistance program; Institute for Excellence employee training, coaching and mentoring programs; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mutual respect and awareness programs; YNHHS-sponsored volunteer opportunities; and Fidelity and other financial education programs.

Thrive also includes YNHHS’ annual Know Your Numbers program, which incorporates a health screening and personal choice activities. These can add up to $500 in earned credit toward the 2022 medical benefits premium for YNHHS benefits-eligible participants.

Organizing YNHHS’ diverse array of well-being benefits under Thrive’s “umbrella” makes it easier for employees to find and access helpful resources.

“YNHHS is committed to building a culture of well-being, where employees can flourish, both professionally and personally,” said Myatt. “This is where Thrive really shines. There are numerous options for employees to pursue the goals most important to their total well-being.”

How it works

Step 1

Access Virgin Pulse. The Virgin Pulse employee well-being portal is the platform for all Thrive elements. Employees who previously enrolled in Virgin Pulse for last year’s Know Your Numbers program or for use throughout the year do not need to re-enroll. Employees not enrolled in Virgin Pulse must opt in to participate in Thrive. Visit join.virginpulse.com/ynhhs to get started.

Step 2

Participate in YNHHS well-being offerings. Employees can begin working on their well-being with Thrive at any time by logging in to Virgin Pulse and selecting the Benefits tab from the top menu. The Benefits page contains a list of all well-being resources available through Thrive, including some that will count toward the 2022 medical premium credit for benefits-eligible employees. See the Know Your Numbers sidebar for details.

“Your health, safety and satisfaction are important to us and our patients,” said Myatt. “All employees can use Thrive year-round to help you meet your needs as new challenges, goals and circumstances come up in your life.”

YNHHS is hosting live, virtual demonstrations on navigating Thrive and other interactive features in Virgin Pulse: March 22, 11 - 11:45 am; March 30, 8 - 8:45 pm; March 31, 3 - 3:45 pm; April 5, 1 - 1:45 pm; and April 8, 2 - 2:45 pm. Visit the employee intranet for Zoom links.

Know Your Numbers

Period to earn credit: Now through Sept. 15, 2021

YNHHS’ annual Know Your Numbers (KYN) program is now part of Thrive; and certain activities will earn benefits-eligible employees up to $500 credit toward their 2022 medical premium. The incentive period runs from now through Sept. 15, 2021. Employees hired on or before Aug. 30, 2021, can earn KYN credit by:

  1. Participating in personal choice activities. An expanded list of activities is available to KYN participants as part of Thrive. Visit the My Rewards tab in Virgin Pulse to view which benefits are eligible for credit immediately. Completing these activities will earn you varying amounts of credit within the incentive period, but that credit will remain “locked” (ineligible) until you complete a health screening.
  2. Receiving a health screening. In the coming months, YNHHS plans to offer biometric screenings on site at various locations across the health system (in accordance with infection-prevention guidelines). Employees must receive a health screening to be eligible for KYN credit. Watch for additional information on health screenings in upcoming employee newsletters and on the intranet. Alternatively, employees may receive a screening from their healthcare provider or at a CVS Caremark location. Screenings performed between Oct. 1, 2020 and Sept. 15, 2021 are eligible for credit. Employees must upload proof of offsite screenings to Virgin Pulse. Any credit earned by completing KYN personal choice activities will remain “locked” until you receive a health screening.

Important reminder: Your privacy is important. Details about health screenings, personal choice activities and programs accessed on Virgin Pulse are confidential. YNHHS only receives notice that you completed certain elements of the program.
