Asthma: Optimizing nutrition webinar April 19

The livingwellCARES asthma management webinar series continues with “Asthma: Optimizing Nutrition and Eating Habits,” noon Tuesday, April 19. See how an anti-inflammatory eating pattern can support asthma management and reduce exposure to potential asthma triggers. Cafeterias, coffee shops allowing reusable mugs

YNHH cafeterias and coffee shops are now allowing customers to use clean reusable mugs, which will help reduce paper waste. Customers will receive a small discount for reusable mugs, which must be clean (the cafeterias and coffee shops will not clean mugs).

Let’s Talk presentation on cultural intelligence May 5

Employees are invited to “Cultural Intelligence: A Conduit to Organizational Wellness, Bias Awareness and Management, and Advancing Health Equity,” noon - 1:30 pm Thursday, May 5, via Zoom. The webinar will provide strategies to help build self-awareness; promote organizational cultures that prioritize inclusiveness; increase understanding of cultural differences; plan for multicultural interactions; and demonstrate flexibility in cross-cultural situations. Keynote speaker Dr. Angela Richard-Eaglin is associate dean for equity, and associate clinical professor at Yale School of Nursing. Heart Walk: May 7 at Savin Rock

Are your walking shoes ready? After two years, the American Heart Association’s 35th annual Greater New Haven Heart Walk on Saturday, May 7 is once again back, in person, at Savin Rock, West Haven. Check-in time is 9 am; the walk begins at 10 am. Yale New Haven Hospital’s Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) is fielding various heart walk teams as are Yale University, Yale School of Medicine and Northeast Medical Group, which collectively have set a $50,000 fundraising goal. Funds raised support research and advances related to heart disease and stroke.
