Workshop to explore relationships of gay men and their families, communities
As part of its Let’s Talk series, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites employees to a multicultural talk featuring Rick Miller, psychotherapist and author, who will lead a discussion highlighting the defining moments of gay liberation throughout history to the present. He will also examine the relationship between gay sons and their mothers. In addition to authoring several books, Miller is executive director of Gay Sons and Mothers, a nonprofit organization.
The workshop is Friday, June 7, 55 Park St. Auditorium, York Street Campus. Registration is at 9:30 am; the program begins at 10 am. Lunch will be available at noon. Workshop objectives include offering understanding for mothers, sons, their families and their communities. It will also address the unique aspects of growing up gay, internal struggles with coming out and family reactions to these moments.
