Blood drive Dec. 27

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the York Street Campus, 7 am - 5pm Tuesday, Dec. 27, East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area. The last 15 minutes of each hour will be kept open for walk-in donors. IRS maximum employees can contribute to the 403(b) plan

For 2017, the Internal Revenue Service has announced that the annual maximum amount employees can contribute to their 403(b) plan, also known as a tax-sheltered annuity, will remain at 2016 levels: employees under age 50, up to $18,000 per year; employees 50 and older, up to $24,000. The hospital matches up to a maximum of 3 percent of the employee's first 5 percent contribution of base pay, up to the IRS maximum of $270,000 for 2017.

YNHH Cash Account Pension continues to earn 3.8 percent

Each Nov. 30, an employee's Cash Account Pension Plan account balance is updated by an annual pay credit, plus an interest credit, which is entirely funded by Yale New Haven Hospital. The annual interest rate credited as of Nov. 30, 2016, was 3.8 percent. As of Dec. 1, 2016, the interest rate will continue to be 3.8 percent for the coming plan year.

YNHH honored for leadership development

YNHH is among 19 healthcare organizations nationwide to earn the National Center for Healthcare Leadership's BOLD (Best Organizations for Leadership Development) recognition. Celeste Milligan, director of learning and organizational development for Yale New Haven Health System's Institute for Excellence, accepted the award at the NCHL's national conference in Chicago. Russell Hullstrung, director of eLearning at the IFE, presented at the conference. BOLD organizations are frontrunners in using evidence-based leadership development practices to improve health and healthcare in their communities.
