Kristin Haskins, Wanda Marion
York Street Campus
Kristin Haskins, PA, was recognized for her attention to detail and practicing a questioning attitude while caring for a patient in the Chest Pain Center who had undergone a cardiac work up. Haskins saw that a specific blood test had initially been ordered but not completed. Although the patient's symptoms had resolved, she proceeded with the test as a precaution. After completing her shift, she checked the test results from home and noticed an issue. She notified the attending physician, who ordered further testing, which showed the patient had a condition requiring immediate treatment. Haskins' use of CHAMP safety behaviors allowed for timely surgical intervention.

, a Food and Nutrition Catering to You associate, was recognized for her attention to detail and practicing a questioning attitude. While on the General Cardiac Unit (Verdi 3 East), she noticed that a patient who had been on a soft diet before surgery had returned to the unit and was now on a regular diet. Marion shared her concerns with the clinical technician, who escalated the concerns to the nurse. The nurse informed the team that the patient should still be on a soft diet. Thanks to Marion's efforts, the patient received the correct meals.
