Amber Hickey, RN, safety coach, Cardiac/ Pulmonary unit (SP 5-3), was recognized for her attention to detail. While reviewing vital signs, Hickey noticed that information was uploading to the incorrect patient record in Epic. She escalated her concerns to Information Technology Services, which fixed the issue at the Saint Raphael, York Street and Bridgeport campuses.

Kathy Pytel, RN, Surgical Step Down unit (SLA 2), was recognized for attention to detail. When the 2015 hospital influenza vaccination protocol was released, she noticed an instruction to ask patients if they had received the vaccine since Sept. 1, 2014. A "yes" answer would have indicated the patient received the vaccine for the 2014 flu season. Pytel escalated her concerns and the Epic team corrected the protocol that day. Thanks to Pytel's great catch, patients received the correct influenza vaccine for 2015.
