YNHH recognized for cardiac surgery

YNHH’s Heart and Vascular Center recently received the highest Composite Quality Rating in four procedure categories from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons National Database. YNHH received the three-star rating for isolated aortic valve replacement (AVR); combined AVR and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG); mitral valve repair and replacement (MVRR); and combined MVRR and CABG. YNHH is one of the few cardiac surgery programs in the U.S. to receive this recognition of multiple three-star ratings, and the only Connecticut cardiac center to be so highly ranked.

YNHH again recognized for alternative transportation options

For the seventh consecutive year, Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) has designated YNHH a Best Workplace for Commuters 2018 for providing employees alternative transportation options. This year, BWC recognized 200 organizations that meet or exceed the national standard of excellence in commuter benefits created by the National Center for Transit Research and US Environmental Protection Agency. YNHH’s Transportation Demand Management program offers alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle use, with shuttle services, public transportation subsidies, car- and van-pooling and other options. The program helps address parking challenges; demonstrates environmental excellence by reducing gasoline demand, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution; and exhibits corporate citizenship.
