“me too.” movement founder to lead workshop

YNHHS employees are invited to a free “Let’s Talk” diversity and inclusion workshop with Tarana Burke, “me too.” movement founder and senior director of programs at the Brooklyn- based Girls for Gender Equity. The workshop will be noon - 4 pm Friday, July 13, at the University of Bridgeport, John J. Cox Student Center, 224 University Ave. A TIME magazine person of the year, Burke will discuss the genesis of the me too. movement and her 25 years as a social justice and gender-equity activist. Blood drive at Long Wharf July 18

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive, 11:45 am - 4:45 pm Wednesday, July 18, at the YNHH Long Wharf blood draw station, 150 Sargent Drive. To make an appointment visit redcrossblood.org.

Food and mood lecture July 31

Join registered dietitians from YNHH’s Center for Nutrition and Wellness for a lecture on food and mood, 12:30 - 1 pm Tuesday, July 31, NP4, room 101A. Learn about the food-mood relationship, and how to practice mindful eating and conquer stress-related eating habits. Feel free to bring your lunch. Shoreline Surgery Center renovations under way

The Shoreline Surgery Center (SSCII) at 111 Goose Lane in Guilford closed June 30 for renovations. Patients, staff and surgeons have temporarily relocated to the Temple Surgery Center and operating rooms at the York Street and Saint Raphael campuses. In February 2019, the SSCII will open at 111 Goose Lane with six operating rooms and 18 pre-op and recovery bays. The Shoreline Endoscopy Center (SSCI) at 111 Goose Lane will relocate to 800 Boston Post Road, Guilford in August, and will continue as a venture jointly owned and operated by YNHH and Connecticut Gastroenterology Consultants. With the move, SSCI will expand to four procedure rooms and 13 pre-op and recovery bays.

YNHH named to “great hospitals” list

Becker’s Healthcare recently named Yale New Haven Hospital to its annual “100 great hospitals in America” list. YNHH was the only Connecticut hospital to make the list. Selected hospitals are nationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, patient outcomes and staff and doctor satisfaction. According to Becker’s, organizations on the list are industry leaders that have achieved advanced accreditation and certification in several specialties. The list also includes industry innovators that have sparked trends in healthcare technology, hospital management and patient satisfaction. Becker’s Healthcare publishes business and legal information for the healthcare industry.
