NEW HAVEN, CT (June 21, 2016) – Yale New Haven Children's Hospital (YNHCH) is ranked among the best in the nation for six of its pediatric subspecialties in the 2016-17 Best Children's Hospitals rankings, published online by U.S. News & World Report. Rankings are based on key clinical data collected by U.S. News from pediatric centers across the country and surveys completed by more than 10,000 pediatric specialists in each individual specialty. YNHCH ranked in cancer (#35); diabetes and endocrinology (#7); gastroenterology and GI surgery (#38); neonatology (#47); neurology and neurosurgery (#47) and orthopedics (#48).

YNHCH diabetes and endocrinology ranked among the elite top ten national programs for the seventh year in a row. YNHCH was the only hospital in Connecticut ranked in U.S. News' Best Children's Hospitals and one of only three in New England.

"The recognition of these six specialties by U.S. News reflects the commitment and talent of the teams of physicians, nurses and many others who work tirelessly for the children and families we are privileged to serve," said Clifford Bogue, MD, physician-in-chief and chief medical officer at YNHCH, and interim chair of the department of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine. "We are honored to have so many of our children's hospital specialties ranked among the best in the United States, particularly our diabetes and endocrinology program for being among the top ten nationally," Dr. Bogue added.

"Our quality and safety, and patient experience initiatives coupled with our commitment to recruiting and retaining top medical talent are vital to improving outcomes, discovering new cures and caring for every child who needs us," said Michael Caty, MD, YNHCH surgeon-in-chief and chief of pediatric surgery.

YNHCH is a comprehensive children's medical center with campuses in New Haven and Bridgeport, and a network of Pediatric Specialty Centers across the region providing access to more than 35 pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties. The centers are located in Greenwich, Norwalk, Old Saybrook, Trumbull and three in New Haven.
