What to talk about with your doctor when you’re well

Join family medicine specialist Steven Benaderet, MD, on Tuesday, October 12 at 5:30 pm for a webinar discussion about the importance of getting a routine checkup and what you should talk about with your doctor, even when you’re feeling well. Register for the webinar.

State sees urgent need for blood donations

Connecticut and the rest of the nation are experiencing severe blood shortages. All blood types are needed, particularly type O, as well as platelets, to help ensure patients get the care they need. The American Red Cross is holding blood drives across the state. Find a blood drive in your neighborhood.

Fresh food for the community

Bridgeport Hospital hosts a weekly farm stand as well as monthly community food distribution at its Bridgeport campus, 200 Mill Hill Ave. Masks and social distancing required.

The farm stand sells farm-fresh fruits and vegetables Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30 pm, through Oct. 14. The first 25 customers each week receive a $5 voucher for produce. Cash, credit/debit, senior and WIC checks accepted; SNAP/EBT cards accepted and dollars doubled.

Bridgeport Hospital’s free food distribution is held the third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm. Each family receives one bag of food while supplies last. Bags contain milk, eggs, fresh produce and bread.
