Markus Müschen, MD, PhD; Marcella Nunez-Smith, MD, MHS
Markus Müschen, MD, PhD, has been named director of the new Center of Molecular and Cellular Oncology at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center, and the Arthur H. and Isabel Bunker Professor of Medicine (Hematology) and Professor of Immunobiology at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Müschen will join Smilow and YCC from City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he is associate director of basic science and professor and chair of the Department of Systems Biology. Dr. Müschen earned his medical degree from the Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf, Germany, and completed his medical training in hematology-oncology in Cologne.
Marcella Nunez-Smith, MD, MHS, has been named director of the Center for Community Engagement and Health Equity at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center, as well as chief health equity officer and deputy chief medical officer at Smilow Cancer Hospital, and associate cancer center director for Community Outreach and Engagement at Yale Cancer Center. Dr. Nunez-Smith earned her MD at Jefferson Medical College; completed her residency at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and completed her fellowship at the Yale Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program, where she also received a master’s in health sciences. She is an associate professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine, of epidemiology and public health at Yale School of Public Health, and of management at Yale School of Management.
