Pediatric Congenital Electrophysiology

The Pediatric Congenital Electrophysiology service offers comprehensive care for patients with arrhythmia or conduction problems. A multidisciplinary team cares for patients with heart rhythm abnormalities including:

  • Atrial fibrillation/flutter
  • Atrioventricular block (heart block)
  • Ectopic atrial tachycardia
  • Heart palpitations
  • Sinus node dysfunction
  • Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
  • Syncope (fainting)
  • Ventricular tachycardia
  • Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome

Outpatient testing includes electrocardiography, heart rhythm monitoring with remote telemetry, implantable monitoring devices, exercise stress testing, and genetic testing to evaluate for heart rhythm abnormalities.

Inherited Arrhythmia

We provide care for the growing number of families identified with genetically inherited diseases related to heart rhythm. At the clinic, we offer comprehensive counseling to families for conditions including:

  • Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC)
  • Brugada syndrome
  • Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT)
  • Long QT syndrome

Tests and procedures offered include:

  • Transcatheter electrophysiology studies and ablations using radiofrequency and cryoablation
  • 3D mapping and minimal radiation techniques
  • Pacemaker placement and management
  • Defibrillator (ICD) placement and management
