New Haven, CT (July 6, 2026) – Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval ® for Orthopedic Certification, a nationally recognized symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to safe, high-quality patient care. The certification recognizes YNHH’s adherence to rigorous performance standards and evidence-based practices designed to improve patient outcomes and reduce risk.
The Joint Commission’s orthopedic certification program recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in the delivery of orthopedic care through standardized processes, clinical practice guidelines and ongoing performance measurements. The certification highlights organizations that provide high-quality patient-centered care across the continuum of treatment and recovery.
“This certification recognizes the exceptional care our teams provide across the entire patient journey, from diagnosis and treatment through recovery and rehabilitation,” said Lisa Lattanza, MD, chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, Yale New Haven Health System and chair and Ensign Professor of the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at Yale School of Medicine. “We are proud to offer evidence-based, cutting-edge orthopedic care that helps patients achieve the best possible outcomes.”
The certification reflects the dedication and expertise of YNHH’s multidisciplinary orthopedic team, including physicians, nurses, therapists and support staff who work collaboratively to deliver comprehensive care to patients with orthopedic conditions and injuries.
The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. Its orthopedic certification programs are designed to help healthcare organizations improve quality, safety and outcomes through evidence-based care and continuous performance improvement.
