NEW HAVEN, CT (July 8, 2024) – Yale New Haven Hospital’s Medical-Surgical units Celentano 4 on the Saint Raphael Campus and EP 4-6 on the York Street Campus received PRISM Awards from the National Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses and Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board.
Premier Recognition In the Specialty of Medical-Surgical (PRISM) recognizes sustained excellence in patient care management, holistic patient care, elements of interprofessional care, professional concepts and nursing teamwork and collaboration. Mark Lee, RN, Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses Board of Directors. presented the awards at a special event July 1. “Any type of recognition of this caliber requires a significant investment from so many people,” said Francine LoRusso, RN, YNHH senior vice president, Operations and executive director, Heart and Vascular, Transplant, Medicine and Radiology Services. “Our nurse and physician leaders, clinical coordinators, quality and safety staff, educators, all of the individuals on these units and our multidisciplinary colleagues who have contributed, have made such a difference. This is something we all can be proud of.”
“When I saw the encapsulation of what you have done, I thought, ‘This is absolutely remarkable,’” said Katherine Heilpern, MD, YNHH president. “As they say, ‘Teamwork makes the dream work,’ and these two units are the embodiment of that.”
