Yale New Haven Hospital named a best workplace for commuters in 2018

Tuesday, February 6, 2018

New Haven, February 6, 2018 – Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) has been designated as one of the nation’s Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) in 2018. For the seventh consecutive year, BWC recognized YNHH for offering exceptional employee-provided commuter benefits that meet the National Standard of Excellence criteria.

According to BWC, Yale New Haven is one of 200 organizations across the country that has addressed their employees’ concerns regarding challenges such as traffic congestion and reducing emissions and offers a range of commuter benefits that gives employees the support they need to get to and from work more efficiently.

“We are extremely proud of our Transportation Demand Management programs that save employees time, money and stress,” said Rodney Slaughter, manager, Parking and Transportation. “We offer a number of programs and incentives for employees to consider when planning their daily commutes and many employees appreciate having options for traveling to and from work.”

YNHH offers employees several commuter benefit options and alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle use, including shuttle services, public transportation subsidies, car- and van-pooling and other alternatives. The program helps address parking challenges; demonstrates environmental excellence by reducing gasoline demand, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution; and exhibits corporate citizenship.

Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), part of Yale New Haven Health, is a nationally recognized, 1,541-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine (YSM). Founded as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. in 1826, today, YNHH has two New Haven-based campuses, and also includes Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital and Smilow Cancer Hospital. YNHH has received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the nation’s highest honor of nursing excellence. YNHH has a combined medical staff of about 4,500 university and community physicians practicing in more than 100 specialties. www.ynhh.org
