Amit Achhra, MD, PhD, specializes in infectious diseases, with a clinical interest in HIV primary care, managing cases of HIV with complex resistance history, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), COVID-19 therapeutics, and general infectious diseases.
Dr. Achhra trains residents and fellows in his role as an assistant professor of medicine (infectious diseases) at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on the implementation of HIV care strategies, STI research, and clinical trials in HIV and COVID-19.
Dr. Achhra completed his medical training at K J Somaiya Medical College, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in India and earned his doctoral degree from the Kirby Institute/University of New South Wales in Australia. He completed his internal medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in infectious diseases/HIV at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard University.
