Lindsay McAlpine, MD specializes in neuroimmunology, neuro-infectious disease, and the neurological sequelae (or long-term effects) of COVID-19. She directs the Yale NeuroCOVID Clinic, which treats patients who have recovered from the disease, but have persistent neurological symptoms, including headaches, neuropathy, and cognitive impairment, among others.
Dr. McAlpine is a third-generation female physician who says she was inspired to go into medicine by the women in her family. She continues to be motivated by the patients she cares for and fascinated by the experience of figuring out the best ways to treat a disease that is not yet well-defined.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. McAlpine is currently completing fellowship training in multiple sclerosis, neuroimmunology, and neuro-infectious disease. She is involved in research to study the effects of COVID-19 on the brain and is the principal investigator of an MRI study that is looking at biomarkers of cerebral dysfunction in patients with post-COVID cognitive impairment.
