PGY2 Solid Organ Transplant Pharmacy
The PGY2 pharmacy residency in transplant trains residents to practice as clinical specialists across all phases of transplantation through collaboration with the multidisciplinary transplant service. The resident will gain experience in a broad range of transplantation settings, including opportunities for teaching and research, and develop their own patient-centered, evidence-based practice. This program will prepare the resident to practice either in an in or outpatient setting and work with all types of solid organ transplants.
The PGY2 Residency consists of a series of learning experiences that span a 52 week period. Specific learning experiences and goals will be accomplished in discrete blocks of time, while others will occur longitudinally throughout the duration of the residency. Residency time will be generally structured as follows:

Elective Rotational Experiences: 20 weeks
A total of 20 weeks; can be split into 2 or 4 week rotations based on resident's interest and development plan. Part II of a required rotation will expect the resident to take ownership of the service with a focus on precepting pharmacy learners.

Longitudinal Experiences:
- Kidney and Liver Transplant Clinic
- Year-long coverage of Monday Kidney and Liver Transplant clinic caring for pre- and post-transplant recipients and living donors
- Residency project (2)
- Longitudinal project focused on clinic topic
- Cost management project/MUE
- Submit research project for ATC or ASTS meeting and publication to transplant or pharmacy journal (at least 2 drafts of manuscript completed prior to graduation)
- Medical Review Board, Recipient Review Committee, Donor Advocacy Panel, Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings throughout the year

- Two shifts every third weekend and approximately 1-2 weekday shifts per month covering the transplant service (12 day stretches required)
- On call formulary pager coverage (schedule to be determined)
*Any staffing shift including night shift may be filled at discretion of residency director

- Educational checklist complete
- One hour pharmacy grand rounds or ACPE accredited lecture (1)
- 30 minute clinical case conference (2)

- Peer review at least two manuscripts with preceptor (2)
- Manuscript suitable for publication (Complete manuscript incorporating at least two rounds of preceptor feedback
- Poster or platform related to transplant submitted to a meeting (1)
- Portfolio complete (Completed documents for each checklist item uploaded to resident portfolio)
- Completion of disease state appendix
- Completion of Landmark Journal Club series
- Achieved at least 80% of ASHP residency objectives (Preceptor marked as "achieved" on at least two occasions or other documentation demonstrating achievement of the objective as evaluated by the RPC/RPD)
- Compliant with all pharmacist mandatory requirements (e.g. current pharmacist license in good standing on file, completion of all mandatory training)
