Victor Morris, MD, promoted to administrative director

New Haven Victor Morris, MD, medical director of the hospitalist service and associate chief of staff, has been promoted to the position of administrative director, physician and patient access services.

In his new role, Dr. Morris is responsible for improving patient access and bed assignment, as well as directing the implementation of patient transfers. Dr. Morris also serves as chair of the safe patient flow executive committee.

Dr. Morris, who earned BS at Stanford University and MD at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, began his YNHH career as a resident in internal medicine in 1990 and served as chief medical resident. In 1994, he became the first assistant chief of staff. He has provided oversight to the internal medicine consult service, is responsible for oversight of all bed resources, has been medical director of clinical effectiveness since 2000, and has been the director of the hospitalist service since 2003. He has won numerous teaching awards, including the Teacher of the Year, awarded by the internal medicine house staff.

He and his wife, Jensa Morris, MD, a hospitalist at Yale New Haven Hospital, have three children and live in Guilford.
