regional operations center ground breaking

New Haven, CT (Sept. 6, 2018) – Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) and the City of West Haven formally broke ground yesterday for the new Regional Operations Center (ROC) with a ceremony attended by YNHHS leadership as well as local and state representatives. The new facility will serve as the future home of an advanced warehouse for distributing medical supplies throughout Yale New Haven Health.

“Today’s gathering marks a wonderful milestone in Yale New Haven Health’s history,” said Christopher O’Connor, executive vice president and COO, YNHHS. “This is the first major capital project we are doing at the system level. This center marks the first time that we are doing something to really scale across the entirety of the system, funded by each one of our members hospitals. This is a tremendous opportunity as we continue to drive economic development in both the cities that we occupy but now, more regionally across Connecticut.”

Located at 600 Derby Avenue in West Haven, the center will be a one-story, 140,000 square foot building with a mezzanine. The building will be staffed by approximately 90-95 managers and staff, with half of those positions newly created jobs. YNHHS will continue to use its Howard Avenue warehouse in the former SEAMCO building in New Haven.

“The city of West Haven is very excited to welcome Yale New Haven Health,” said The Honorable Nancy Rossi, mayor, city of West Haven. ”We could not be happier and believe this is the beginning of something very big here and have done everything we possibly can to help facilitate this project and will continue to do so.”

In August, 2017, Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) finalized the purchase of land. The team is targeting a mid-Summer 2019 grand opening.
