Neurosciences Center tour offers sneak peek at patient and staff amenities

One of the many Center amenities – and the main reason for the recent Auxiliary tour – is a garden that will be nestled between the Center’s two towers. At its Sept. 17 annual meeting, the Auxiliary will announce a substantial funding pledge for the garden. In the meantime, crews are prepping the site.

Employee wellness is a critical component of the Neurosciences Center, which will include respite areas – such as this large space near the ICUs – where hospital care team members can decompress. Employees and physicians are providing input on features and programming for these areas.

Many spaces in the new Center are designed so they can be used for multiple purposes. A first-floor conference center will be used for neurosciences research conferences, education and training and other activities. The conference center also will include advanced technology, such as monitors that could allow clinicians to view surgical procedures occurring in the operating rooms.

The lobbies of the two Neurosciences Center towers will have finishes similar to those at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital and will include a café, gift shop and pharmacy.
