Raghav Sundar, MD, PhD, is a medical oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal cancers, with particular expertise in gastroesophageal cancers and tumors that spread to the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity). At Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital, he leads the Gastroesophageal Cancer Program, specifically focused on complex, multidisciplinary care and innovative treatment approaches and clinical trials.

As an associate professor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Sundar is internationally recognized for his research in gastroesophageal cancers. He pioneers innovative clinical trials and treatment approaches, particularly for patients with challenging conditions like peritoneal metastases. His work has led to significant discoveries that help predict how cancers might respond to treatment, potentially opening new paths for more effective therapies.
Dr. Sundar completed his medical training and doctoral degree at the National University of Singapore and received specialized fellowship training at the prestigious Royal Marsden Hospital in the United Kingdom in experimental therapeutics and early phase clinical trials. Before joining Yale, he served as a senior consultant medical oncologist and research director in Singapore, where he led numerous clinical trials and research initiatives. His work has been published in top medical journals, advancing the field of cancer treatment globally.
