Support Groups and Social Work

Licensed, experienced social workers are available to help you and your family cope with illness, discuss your concerns and connect you to a variety of hospital and community resources.

We also offer free support groups for patients and their caregivers or loved ones. Meeting times and locations are subject to change, so call the numbers provided ahead of time to get the most current information.

Yale New Haven Hospital provides bereavement services and support to families and friends after the loss of a loved one. Grief is a natural response to loss and learning more about grief will help with healing. For information on the bereavement support group schedule, please call 203-415-8940.

Childbirth Education

The childbirth education program helps families get off to the best start with maternity experts available to support you through pregnancy and beyond. They also offer a variety of affordable, fun fitness programs, educational resources, childbirth and parenting classes, breastfeeding supplies and more.

Parenting Support Programs/Nurturing Families Network

Nurturing Families Home Visiting Program helps new first time and second time fathers and mothers meet the challenges of parenthood, create a safe environment for their child, and learn positive parenting skills with weekly home visits by Parents as Teachers certified parent educators/home visitors. For more information, call 203-688-8165.

A support group for stroke survivors and their caregivers is held at the Saint Raphael Campus on Verdi 4 East. Registration is required. Call the YNHH Stroke Center at 203-737-1057.

Heart Transplantation Support Group

Our monthly meeting for individuals considering, preparing for, and recovering from heart transplant surgery. Two times and locations are offered for your convenience.
