YNHH honors “essential” members of the healthcare team

Yale New Haven Hospital kicked off Care Associates Week Nov. 20 with a special ceremony highlighting the knowledge, skill and compassion of these professionals, who work in a wide variety of clinical areas throughout the hospital.

“I’m truly taken aback by the breadth and depth of your expertise and responsibilities as care associates across the continuum of care,” said Pamela Sutton-Wallace, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Yale New Haven Health. “I know we don’t tell you this nearly enough, but you are essential to our patients and to the entire interdisciplinary care team.”

Held Nov. 20 - 24 this year, Care Associates Week honors ambulatory care assistants, ambulatory care associates, clinical technicians, emergency department technical associates, ED technicians, medical assistants, mental health workers, milieu counselors, patient care associates, radiology care assistants, technical associates and urology technicians.

During the virtual ceremony, YNHH leaders recognized care associates who have advanced on the clinical ladder. They also announced the recipients of the Frances Grindell Scholarships, awarded annually to care associates pursuing nursing degrees. Mark Grindell, Frances’ son, spoke about his mother’s commitment to nursing education and congratulated the awardees: Candice Hammond-Gordon, Alejandra Lucero, Alanna Villano and Vera Wisniewski.

April Leigh and Amanda Adante received Circle of Care awards at the ceremony for their dedication to patients, commitment to peers and service to the community.
Thank you to all of our amazing Care Associates!
