U.S. News & World Report recognizes seven Yale New Haven Children’s subspecialties

Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH) has been selected among the best children’s hospitals in the nation for seven out of 10 pediatric subspecialties in the 2020-21 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings, published online by U.S. News & World Report.

YNHCH ranked in diabetes and endocrinology (#6); neonatology (#24); nephrology (#29); gastroenterology and GI surgery (#37); pulmonology (#43); neurology and neurosurgery (#45); and cancer (#50). Most notably, Neonatology sustained the major gain it made last year, moving up one more notch in the rankings. Nephrology rose an impressive 13 places from 42 to 29.

“Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital has once again remained among the elite hospitals for pediatric patients not only in the region but in the United States,” said Clifford Bogue, MD, YNHCH physician-in-chief and chief medical officer, and chair of pediatrics, Yale School of Medicine.

“The outstanding work done by the teams here at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and across Yale New Haven Health is reflected in these national rankings,” said Cynthia Sparer, senior vice president, Operations, Yale New Haven Hospital and executive director, YNHCH. “This recognized national expertise means families from across our state and region benefit greatly. Our growth, our nationally-recognized leadership in quality and safety initiatives, and our commitment to recruiting and retaining top medical talent are vital to improving outcomes and providing the best possible care to children and their families.”

YNHCH is a national leader in pediatric care, with campuses in New Haven and Bridgeport and relationships across the heath system. The network of seven integrated Pediatric Specialty Centers provides access to more than 35 pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties across the region.
