Praise, gratitude extended to YNHHS QCC inductees

YNHHS President and CEO Marna Borgstrom visits with Sandra Richards (left) and Sandra Elkin-Randi, both from the System Business Office. They were among 40 employees inducted into the YNHHS Quarter Century Club, making it the largest class to date.

What were you doing in 1989? Forty Yale New Haven Health System employees were just beginning their careers at Bridgeport, Greenwich or Yale New Haven hospitals. The system honored these individuals for 25 years of service with their induction into the Quarter Century Club March 11, during a luncheon at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale. More than 325 people, including members of management and former inductees, also attended.

YNHHS President and CEO Marna Borgstrom greeted the largest class of inductees yet, reminding them of how far the organization has come during their tenure.

"This past year alone, we saw almost 110,000 inpatient discharges and more than 1.7 million outpatient encounters. It's almost staggering to think about," she said. "We are able to do so much more for our patients - better and faster."

She also cited a few of the milestones they have witnessed, including the implementation of Epic, and last year's acquisition of PriMed and its integration into Northeast Medical Group. Reflecting on the conscientious, respectful work of so many people to fully integrate the Hospital of Saint Raphael with Yale New Haven Hospital, Borgstrom said, "Now it seems like both were always part of the same system."

Many things have changed in the inductees' time with YNHHS, but as Borgstrom noted, there are still three things people need to be successful at YNHHS: great patient care values, a strong work ethic and a sense of humor.

"You all have done so much for our system and our patients over the past 25 years," she said. "On behalf of our boards and senior management, we thank you for your contributions. We couldn't be more privileged to work with you and see the incredible work you do each and every day."

The YNHHS Quarter Century Club, which includes employees who have served 25 years or more, has more than 250 members. Inducted this year were: Eugene Colucci, Rosalind Smith and Sandra Zautra from Finance; Ann Hogan from Community/Government Relations; Allison Ross and Patricia Burke from Human Resources; Shirley Adams, Gary Biasucci, Mark Bridgman, Mark Chiaramonte, Albert Cusano, Nora Dattilo, Charles Early, Valerie Walton and Caryll-Ellen Waterfield from Information Technology Services; Elizabeth Peters and Gayle Schirillo from Quality Management; Roger Smith from Supply Chain Management; Joan Battaglia, Karen Bisson, Richard Buckholz, Evelyn Cajigas, Sandra Elkin-Randi, Leslie Florio, Barbara Gettings, Lucille Jaglal, Julia Lacey, Tara Lawlor, Wanda Lewis, Catherine Miko, Kimberly Mule, Sheila Murray, Shawna Myrie, Darcy Reddish, Denise Reynolds, Inez Scott, Renee Skrebis, James Stoughton, Nancy Ventuarelle and Claudia Wilk from System Business Office.
