Services for International Patients

The International Medicine Program provides medical treatment to patients of all ages from around the world. Patients can either refer themselves or be referred by a physician from their country of origin.

Concierge Services

We offer a broad range of concierge services to meet the unique needs of an international patient. An International Medicine Patient Navigator is assigned to each patient to assist with every aspect of their visit and medical care. The Patient Navigator assists with:

  • Language assistance and interpreter services
  • Spiritual and religious needs
  • Lodging and hotel information
  • Use of the patient's electronic medical record called MyChart
  • Dining

Travel Services

Special travel assistance is provided to our international patients through ProTravel International, one of the world's leading travel agencies. ProTravel is able to provide professional, personalized service, access and VIP amenities to our clients anywhere in the world.

  • Scheduling and confirming airline and hotel reservations
  • Travel documentation
  • Medical visa applications
  • Transportation to/from airport
  • Non-clinical interpreter services (outside of the clinical setting)

Interpreter Services

Interpreter services are provided over the phone, by video and in person. More than 200 languages are available through the phone service and a dozen languages are offered via the video service. Appointments are not required for phone or video interpreter services.

However, appointments are required for an in person interpreter. In person interpreters are available to translate in 50 different languages. There is a fee for these services. Your International Medicine Program Coordinator will help you to make arrangements.

Accommodations in the New Haven area

The Suites at Yale New Haven is a warm and inviting hotel for families and care givers of patients staying either short- or long-term at the hospital.

The hotel is a short walk from the hospital and provides a comfortable, home-like setting.
