GME Office Overview

Welcome to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office and House Staff Office (HSO). We provide Yale New Haven Hospital residents and fellows, and their families, with a wide range of information and assistance, on everything from applications and orientation to payroll and benefits. We also deal with issues regarding compliance, accreditation, visas and other matters.

Our Mission

Overall, the GME Office and House Staff Office help ensure exemplary training programs for our residents and fellows. We serve as the Ombudsman's Office for trainees in specialty and subspecialty programs, as well as the Training Program Liaison for the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

The House Staff Office serves as the personnel and payroll office for residents and fellows receiving paychecks from Yale New Haven Hospital. The GME Office, through the various program directors, will verify training, licensing and loan deferment forms for the subspecialty fellows who are paid through Yale University.



Stephen J. Huot, MD, PhD

Dr. Huot oversees all Accreditation and GME-related issues. He also chairs the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC).


Andrea Asnes, MD, MSW

GME Director, Wellbeing

Dr. Asnes oversees resilience and wellbeing programs and self-screenings. She also manages the confidential free mental and behavioral health care and COVID resources while providing pathways for reporting trainee concerns.


Dana W. Dunne, MD, MHS

GME Director, Educator Development

Dr. Dunne oversees the faculty development, resident as teacher, fellows as medical educators and assessment training programs.


Linda L. Fan, MD, FACOG

GME Director, Quality and Safety

Dr. Fan oversees the QI seminar series, boot camp and project mentoring programs. She is also the head of the annual GME Quality and Safety Conference and manages GME representation at system-wide quality and safety meetings.


Tracy Rabin, MD, SM

GME Director, Global and Community Health Education

Dr. Rabin provides administrative oversight and serves as a resource for global and community health education initiatives across the training programs.


Rosemarie Fisher, MD

Emeritus Director, Resident/Fellow Wellbeing

Dr. Fisher collaborates with Dr. Asnes for the wellbeing programs.

House Staff Office

Heather Russell-Milici

House Staff Manager – Physician Residents

Russell-Milici manages the house staff office, HR implementation of FMLA and LOA, house staff orientation, payroll, benefits and visas. She also monitors mandatory training and compliance.

Karen Cameron

GME Medicare Reimbursement Specialist

Cameron manages GME Medicare reporting, short-term rotators (visiting residents) and VA billing.

Barbara Dahl

House Staff Specialist

Dahl manages required registrations and enrollments (NPI, MAP, Controlled Substance, PECOS, etc.), verifications and notary services.

Cheryl Guliuzza

McCausland manages the GME office and serves as the ACGME Institutional Coordinator. She also oversees site visits, CLER visits, special reviews, accreditation and compliance requirements, GME committee and program coordinator meeting agendas and notary services.

Thomas Casagrande

Casagrande manages MedHub orientations, evaluation tools and work hour audits.

Jack Contessa, PhD

Contessa manages the remediation program, the GME retreat and survey dashboards. He also provides study assistance for ITE and board exams.

Cat Gomez-Stafford

Gomez-Stafford manages GME administrative projects, initiatives, Canvas, educational materials, surveys, notary services and the GME website. She also provides event management for GME leadership, resident senate and house staff organizations.

Deborah Lewis

Lewis manages front desk reception, the resident lounge, away elective request forms and malpractice coverage certificates. She also oversees all administrative duties for Dr. Huot.

Cindie Petersen

GME Coordinator

Petersen manages site visits, special reviews, accreditation and compliance requirements, program letters of agreement, call room and work room assignments, renovations and space requests. She also bills and tracks wellness counseling sessions.
