Children’s Hospital Entrance Change

Parking and Location Instructions

The main entrance to Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (1 Park Street) is currently closed. Patients and visitors should use the Smilow Cancer Hospital entrance, 35 Park Street.

The Children’s Emergency Department is not impacted by the addition of the Annex.

What entrance should patients and visitors use for non-emergency services (Pediatric Specialty Center, Children’s Services, inpatient YNHCH rooms) in the Children’s Hospital?

Patients and visitors should use the entrance located at Smilow Cancer Hospital, 35 Park Street. This entrance is a short walk around the corner from the Children’s Hospital (West Pavilion) entrance.

What about maternity patients?

Be sure to contact your doctor or midwife before coming to the hospital.

When arriving at the hospital, please note the specific entrance locations depending on the day and time. A member of our hospital staff will greet you and an admissions representative will register and escort you to the Labor & Birth Unit.

Where should patients and visitors go when they arrive?

Patients and visitors should check in at the Registration Desk at the Smilow Hospital entrance. Staff will direct them to their appointment or location.

What about maternity patients?

Please arrive at specific location depending on day and time:

Monday – Friday, 6am-9pm

Where should patients and visitors park?

We encourage patients and visitors to use Air Rights Garage, 60 York St., New Haven, to avoid valet parking delays.

  • Short-term parking spaces are on floors 4, 6 and 8.
    • Use the covered entrance on the garage’s 4th floor to access Smilow Cancer Hospital. Proceed to the registration desk for information. Parking rates: $1/hour for up to 7 hours; $20 for 7-24 hours
  • Valet Parking, 20 York St. (Yale New Haven Hospital Entrance) and 35 Park Street. (Smilow Cancer Hospital Entrance), New Haven
    • The hospital offers valet parking at the Yale New Haven Hospital entrance and at Smilow Cancer Hospital entrance, 5 am – 9 pm weekdays and 9 am – 9 pm weekends. Upon arrival, follow the signs for valet parking.

     

  • Parking Rates:

    Up to 1 hour: $7 2 - 2½ hours: $13
    1 - 1½ hours: $9 2½ - 7 hours: $15
    1½ - 2 hours: $11 7 - 24 hours: $25

What if I’m taking an Uber, Lyft or taxi to the Children’s Hospital?

Arriving: Have the driver drop you off at Smilow Cancer Hospital entrance, 35 Park St., New Haven.

Departing: Have the driver pick you up at the Yale New Haven Hospital entrance, 20 York St.

Does New Haven Transit have a bus route at 35 Park St?
