Congratulations to nurse practitioner Ranbir Mangat Bains, APRN, PhD, who was recently named the 2023 Yale New Haven Hospital Magnet Nurse of the Year.
Dr. Bains is a nurse practitioner and has been the clinician at the Barnard School-Based Health Center (SBHC) in New Haven since it opened over 16 years ago. She has provided comprehensive health care to students; designed and implemented health education programs; and provided education to students, their families and teachers on numerous health topics.
Dr. Bains has also run numerous programs at Barnard to promote healthy lifestyles and behaviors that will impact children throughout their lives. These programs cover obesity prevention, nutrition education, hand and dental hygiene, puberty and other topics. She has also published papers on school-based health care in peer-reviewed journals, and she is active in various roles at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale School of Nursing and state and national organizations.
