Have technology, will travel

Jacquelyn Crenshaw, senior manager, Breast Imaging, shared features of the new, mobile 3D mammography and breast ultrasound screening unit with members of the Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary recently. It is the first mobile unit in the country equipped with both 3D mammography and screening ultrasound. The Auxiliary has supported YNHH’s mammography van program since its launch in 1987, and pledged $500,000 for the new 3D unit. On Oct. 19, state and local leaders joined Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz at a press conference at the North Haven Medical Center, where the unit was parked. Bysiewicz highlighted the unit’s ability to provide advanced screening for women of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds across Connecticut.
