Diabetes webinar, part III - Are you living with diabetes?  

The livingwellCARES team is offering a three-part webinar series open to all employees about diabetes self-care and management. The final webinar of the series, scheduled for noon on Tuesday, Nov. 16, will cover diabetes medications and monitoring. Visit the intranet for the Zoom link and details. Telehealth Symposium Nov. 30

All employees are invited to the second annual Telehealth Symposium, a virtual event, to be held Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1 - 5 pm. The event will feature keynote speakers Bruce Leff, MD, professor of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, and Joseph Kvedar, MD, president, American Telemedicine Association, and panelists from across Yale New Haven Health. Topics include inpatient and ambulatory telehealth, technology and current legislation and reimbursement.

New Career Services Portal available for YNHHS staff

Serenity Stations: Now booking stress relief into 2022

Serenity Stations are available to all Yale New Haven Hospital employees for stress relief throughout the workday. They are set up in individual units or departments to offer staff relaxing treatments such as chair massage, Reiki and a special session to “Assess and De-stress,” a personalized approach to stress management. These services may help reduce stress, anxiety, fatigue, discomfort and pain for healthcare workers. Serenity Stations follow infection-prevention safety guidelines, including wearing masks at all times. Managers interested in scheduling on-site Serenity Stations for their staff should email [email protected]. Serenity Stations are available for booking from December into early next year. Advance planning is recommended as dates fill up fast.

YNHH offers Pharmacy Technician Training program 

Are you looking for a new career in health care? Yale New Haven Hospital’s Pharmacy Technician Training program is designed for those interested in becoming a pharmacy technician in any practice setting. The 23-week program features a hybrid course model, with self-paced online classes plus on-site experiential instruction. A new program starts each month; check the YNHHS employee intranet for the schedule. YNHH recognized for blood pressure control efforts

The American Heart Association and American Medical Association recently recognized Yale New Haven Hospital with a 2021 Target: BP™ Gold level achievement award for the hospital’s work to improve blood pressure control rates and reduce heart attacks and strokes. YNHH received the award that recognizes controlled high blood pressure in at least 70 percent of its adult patient population.

YNHH honored for mitral valve repair 

The Heart and Vascular Center at Yale New Haven Hospital has received the Mitral Valve Repair Reference Center Award for 2020 and 2021 from the American Heart Association and the Mitral Foundation for excellence in mitral valve repair surgery. The award recognizes centers that have superior clinical outcomes and an ongoing commitment to reporting and measuring quality and outcome metrics. Mitral valve reconstruction is associated with improved survival and fewer long-term complications versus valve replacement.
