PEACE recognition announced

These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.

PEACE

Evangeline McKoy, business associate, Medicine (EP 4-7), was honored after finding a Bible in a drawer which had names, phone numbers and important personal paperwork inside. She began calling the numbers to try to track down information about the owner. After several attempts, she located the daughter of a former patient, who was overjoyed to hear the family Bible had been recovered. McKoy personally delivered the Bible to the family.

Helen Sutphin, ambulatory care associate, Heart and Vascular Center, North Haven, was honored for actions of genuine care and concern on behalf of a patient with cognitive impairment. When the patient arrived for a test, Sutphin asked if he had been taking his medication. Although he said he had, she contacted his pharmacy to inquire whether his prescriptions had recently been refilled. Upon discovering that the patient’s insurance had expired and he had not filled his prescription, Sutphin worked with the patient’s mother to locate the new insurance card. Sutphin called the pharmacy back and provided the necessary information to ensure the patient could pick up his prescription on the way home.

All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for the monthly PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
