These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Awards for Caring and Excellence) for going above and beyond to meet the needs of patients and families.
Kristy Merritt, respiratory therapist, showed caring and compassion for a terminally ill patient who was hospitalized on Medicine (EP 10-7) during the Super Bowl. Merritt decorated his room with balloons and football-related paraphernalia, and brought him wings and other snacks so he could enjoy his own Super Bowl party.
Nancy Johnson, Catering to You associate, Food and Nutrition, was recognized for going above and beyond for a patient who was having trouble keeping food down after a surgical procedure. Johnson created customized meals for the patient, who wrote a letter of praise, directly attributing his “healing, energy levels and strength” to her efforts.
