Trauma and Burn

Pediatric Trauma Center

Yale New Haven Children's Hospital is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center equipped and designated to provide the highest level of care possible to children and adolescents who have experienced severe and life-threatening injuries. Trauma services are performed by a dedicated trauma team, available 24/7.

Our helipad, located on the roof of Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, enables the rapid transfer of patients requiring immediate medical attention while our ground transport team enables us to reach children who might otherwise not have access to care.

Our entire healthcare team is committed to ensuring that all aspects of patient- and family-centered care are addressed. Information sharing and collaboration between families fosters better health outcomes, greater patient satisfaction and improved quality of care. The multidisciplinary care team includes experts in all pediatric specialties including:

Physicians may arrange for the transport of a child or adolescent with trauma from another hospital, 24/7, by calling our Pediatric Consultation Y Access Line.

Burn Center

Yale New Haven Hospital does not offer this service, but we are pleased to refer patients to our Yale New Haven Health partner, Bridgeport Hospital.

The Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital is Connecticut's only burn center.

YNHCH and Child Safety

A key component of the trauma center involves injury prevention. The center is a designated Injury Free Site by the Injury Free Coalition for Kids.
