The Yale New Haven Health Radiologic Technologist Residency Program offers clinical training and didactic education through its Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. Two separate hybrid pathways are available - a six-month Computed Tomography (CT) program or a 12-month Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program. The pathways use approved content by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and a certificate is rewarded upon completion. To be eligible to apply, you must be certified in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) by the start date of either program. Two cohorts of residents will be accepted each year; one cohort will begin in January and the other will begin in July (with exceptions made for the first year of program inception). Cohort sizes will vary depending on departmental capacity and need.
The Yale New Haven Health Department of Radiology Computed Tomography Technologist training program is a post-primary, hybrid six-month pathway. Offered to board certified Registered Radiologic Technologists, the program is designed to prepare students for advanced certification in Computed Tomography. Residents spend 24 hours per week in hands-on clinical practicum at our various imaging locations, eight hours completing didactic work and another 8 hours working clinically as a radiologic technologist to maintain their credentials and practice.
In addition to having access to the wide range of imaging resources and state-of-the-art equipment of Yale New Haven Health, residents utilize American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) curriculum in conjunction with their clinical practice to enhance their understanding of the modality. Upon completion of the program, residents graduate with a certificate that allows them to sit for the national board examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist training program by Yale New Haven Health is a post-primary, hybrid 12-month pathway also offered to board certified Registered Radiologic Technologists.
The program is aimed at registered technologists who are interested in furthering their careers in magnetic resonance imaging. Similar to our CT Technologist training program, residents also spend 24 hours per week in hands-on clinical practicum at our various imaging locations, eight hours completing didactic work and another 8 hours working clinically as a radiologic technologist to maintain their credentials and practice.

Applicants who meet the qualifications specified and provide all necessary materials will be required to participate in a personal interview. The candidate will be evaluated in an individual interview by a panel.
Acceptance decisions are based on the following criteria:
In cases where applicants are equally qualified, the program admissions committee will make the final selection.
Consistent with the YNHH policy of requiring a criminal background check for all employees, this requirement is also extended to all residents accepted by the Radiologic Technologist Resident Program. If the applicant is already an employee of YNHH, no further background check or screening is required.
