There's still time to join the Closer to Free ride on Sept. 12

The clock is ticking but you can still get in on one of the most remarkable days of community spirit, celebration, remembrance and joy of survivorship by signing up for the annual Closer to Free bike ride that will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015. The annual event benefits Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New-Haven and the Yale Cancer Center.

Whether you ride 25 miles, 62.5 miles or the Closer to Free Century (100 miles), you'll be raising money and hope for a world closer to being free of cancer. And if you're not a cyclist, you can still get involved by supporting a participant or taking one of the many volunteer positions as part of the road crew or at the Yale Bowl. Experience a Labyrinth Walk May 7

Yale-New Haven Hospital's Complementary Service Department will host a Labyrinth Walk, Thursday, May 7, 11 am - 1:30 pm in the Seminar Room at 55 Park Street. Free and open to the public, the labyrinth walk is a meditative exercise that allows for contemplation and reflection and provides a place to retreat, regroup and renew. Walking a labyrinth takes only 5 -10 minutes and supports each individual's personal journey.

March health lecture focuses on new approaches in breast imaging

The American Red Cross will hold blood drives at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Monday, April 6 from 7 am-5 pm and Thursday, April 9 from 7 am-1 pm. Both events will take place in the East Pavilion Cafeteria Special Events Area at 20 York Street in New Haven. The last 15 minutes of each hour will be kept open for walk-in donors. New metabolic health and weight loss program

A new Yale Metabolic Health and Weight Loss program has been developed geared for patients with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. It offers alternative treatment options to GI patients who are overweight with medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea and joint disease.
