MRI
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a diagnostic exam that uses radio waves and a powerful magnetic field to produce images of structures inside of the body. Patients will be asked to lie on a table that will slide into the MRI scanner. Some MRIs require the use of contrast. Contrast is a medication that acts as a highlighter to show your organs or blood vessels in greater detail.
3T MRI is a new technology that can produce sharper images of the brain, spine, hands, wrist feet, abdomen and pelvic areas. 3T imaging is recommended for patients who have specific neurological, musculoskeletal or orthopedic injuries and/or medical conditions.
Radiologists work closely with specialists to perform various procedures, such as MRI-guided prostate ablation for low to intermediate risk of prostate cancer.
